Half of the forces in England and Wales boycotted the reward and one of the Police Constables along with her other colleagues “morally” opposed this scheme. On the other hand three chiefs of Lincolnshire Police rated one of the six worst forces in England and Wales shared £40,000 pounds as a reward.

Britain’s biggest force which is Metropolitan Police received a mid ranking but 37 officers shared a payout of £210,197. The scheme covers 200 police officers and if all of them are given the full bonus this will cost the tax payers nearly £1.5 million.Lot s of people have criticised this reward scheme as they think that this is a reward for failure not for performance.

If there were bringing the crime rate down and they deserved the reward the tax payers will always be happy to reward them, but the assessment by the HM Inspectorate Constabulary found the force “poor” for tackling organized crime and investigating “volume crime” such as burglary.

Organized crimes are increasing day by day and the best way to tackle them is to have competent law enforcement officers on board. The money should be spent on hospitals and schools rather than rewarding for failure. For poor performance they should be shamed and for best performance they should be rewarded this is how the world is going. If we performed badly at work, our jobs would be a risk. We certainly would not get rewarded.
