Google is working to make their homepage looks good. And recently, they changed their homepage by setting a customizable background image–just like Microsoft’s Bing.

But recently, reports said that because of this huge change of Google’s homepage, the world of art has changed too. Thanks to Google, more and more people are now searching or viewing stunning arts and photographs from different artists like Jeff Koons and Dale Chihuly. Dale Chihuly has been featured on Google Editor’s Pick for his best known artwork, the giant half inflated metallic modeling balloons. Jeff Koons is also at the Editor’s Pick with his stunning photos.

If you haven’t heard of Jeff Koons yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Hailing from Dover, the New York City resident took the art scene by storm with his giant reproductions of normal objects, such as a balloon animal or a heart.

The brightly colored images have brought him national acclaim, and he was recently honored during the Pennsylvania Governor’s Awards for the Arts in New York.

The June 3 season finale of The Real Housewives Of New York City on Bravo not only attracted its best ratings ever but wrapped up a record season for the reality show. The finale attracted 1.76 million adults among the ages of 18-49 and a series history high of 2.64 million total viewers–up 16% and 30% respectively, versus the season two finale.

How can a group of people be so unlikable yet so fascinating at the same time? Season 3 of the Real Housewives Of New York City ended with a bang last night and proves that at least one of its cast members knows what she’s talking about: Luann is right, money can’t buy you class.

It was like a season-ending cool-down rather than explosive final show. It started off with Ramona going through preparations for the renewal of wedding vows with Mario. She is her typical flighty-hard charging self, but her excitement is palpable and she’s shaping up to be a beautiful “re-bride.”

Meanwhile, Jill and Bethenny have their “let’s clear the air yet again” lunch. Jill tries her best to accept her portion of the blame for how badly their friendship deteriorated this season, but Bethenny is still not in the mood to be conciliatory; in fact, Ms. Frankel gives her former BFF another harsh rebuke, saying that Jill’s sabotaged her relationships left and right. Jill is stunned that Bethenny doesn’t buy her “contrition”, and through her tears, there is that familiar flash of manipulation on her part. Jill, sweetie, that just may be the point Bethenny’s trying to make. Of course, nothing is resolved, friendship-wise.

Oh, sweet, deluded LuAnn. She hosts a CD launch party for her single “Money Can’t Buy You Class”, inviting all the ladies, yet only Jill, Sonja and Kelly show up. Between showing off her Eurotrash boy-toy Jacques, the Countess gives a “live” performance, which is made either more endearing or more pathetic by the fact that she ENJOYS her bad singing a little too much, or both.

The spotlight goes back to Ramona, who revels in getting glammed up with her daughter Avery (who is really quite striking in a wonderfully awkward way). And although Kelly tries to hammer home how “manufactured” this blessed event feels to her, there is a true sense of Ramona’s happiness at celebrating her union.

Hours before the vow renewal, Jill visits Ramona, and the two confirm that their friendship will endure the latest dustup that occurred in the Virgin Islands. But there will be no dice, at least not yet, for Jill’s hope to rebuild her relationship with Bethenny, as she continues to give Jill a cold shoulder. To prove that even now, Jill chooses to be selective with who she wants to make up with, she disses Alex’s attempt to clear the air between the two of them. That’s right Jill, save the drama for the reunion show, babe.

Let us end on a happy note, as Ramona and Mario’s vow renewal actually is sweet and heartfelt, thanks to the emotional personal vows they wrote to each other. And the ladies do look great at the event.

And that’s the season finale for you. The relative calm before the storm which is the reunion show.

Overall, the third season of Real Housewives averaged 1.38 million adults 18-49 and 2.02 million total viewers, the highest rated season so far for the New York City franchise. Bravo will reunite the ladies for a two-part reunion special on June 10. The Real Housewives of New York City are Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Bethenny Frankel, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Alex McCord, Ramona Singer and Jill Zarin. The third season also featured the recurring women Sonja Morgan and Jennifer Gilbert.

Reaction has been mixed to the highly-anticipated series finale of Lost with fans all a-twitter about the fate of the castaway cast.

The two and a half-hour special aired in the US and several other countries at 2pm EST and it didn’t take long for judgment–and spoilers–to hit the web.

Australian audiences will have to wait until Wednesday to see the series conclusion on free-to-air television, after Channel Seven refused to budge on its usual programming schedule.

For the past six years TV viewers have answered “not a clue” as around 120 episodes of television’s most elaborate brain scrambler have unfolded.

When Lost debuted in September 2004 it immediately captured the public’s imagination but every bizarre storyline twist and turn left confused people scratching their heads.

The complex plane crash drama, which has run to six seasons and has a massive online following, has long tantalized fans with its true meaning, and for some the big questions–including the real purpose of the island, castaway hook-ups and whether any of the marooned manage to escape–were answered.

“Without a doubt–This was the GREATEST SERIES FINALE of all time,” wrote one poster on website Entertainment Weekly.

“Simply glorious is all I can say. What we witnessed was a miracle of television,” wrote another.

“It was absolutely beautiful. My heart is happy, even if my head is still on the confused side. I think I’ll have to watch it a few more times.”

Fans have even turned on each other on online discussion boards and on Twitter and some have also spoken of post-Lost “depression”.

“I’m sorry if you didn’t like the ending to Lost. You probably also hate puppies. What an awesome story of redemption,” wrote one die-hard.

“I don’t want to be found!” tweeted another.

Readers who go to the main Google search page will notice the logo has been replaced with a game of Pac-Man. Just hit “Insert Coin” and gobble away.

Google has become famous for changing its logo for special events, but it has never converted it into a playable game before. Today, it is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man’s launch in Japan with a version that lets you steer your pizza-shaped protagonist around a maze that spells out Google’s name–at least for as long as you can evade the ghosts Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde.

To play, simply click the button that usually says “I’m feeling lucky” but now has the legend “Insert Coin”. However, if you don’t do anything, the game will start by itself.

If you click twice on “Insert Coin” then two people can play. Ms Pac-Man joins the game, with the second person controlling her movements using the WASD keys.

“PAC-MAN seems like a natural fit for the Google homepage,” reads a post on the official Google blog. “They’re both deceptively straightforward, carefully hiding their complexity under the hood. There’s a light-hearted, human touch to both of them. And we can only hope you find using Google at least a quarter as enjoyable as eating dots and chasing ghosts.”

Pac-Man debuted in the arcades in 1980, and can be found on pretty much every platform imaginable.

Incidentally, Google is not alone in celebrating Pac-Man’s birthday. The Museum of Computing in Swindon is marking the milestone on Saturday when “a specially constructed maze in Swindon Town centre’s Wharf Green will be the venue for a unique ‘Human Pac-Man’ event.” Visitors to the museum will also be able to play the game on various retro machines, without the need to stock up on 50p pieces.

Created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the creation of the video game icon, the interactive doodle actually features all 256 levels from the original monster game hit.

“I think very few people pass through life without suffering. And my suffering is no different from that of others and it’s not greater,” confessed Chilean author Isabel Allende. “I celebrate each day.”

Allende hopes readers don’t think her latest book, “Island Beneath the Sea,” set in Haiti, is being published in English to take advantage of the current focus on the earthquake-ravaged Caribbean country.

“It’s a terrible coincidence,” says the best-selling author of “The House of the Spirits.”

“I felt bad that the book was going to come out now (in English) and that it might look as if I was taking advantage of the circumstances, but on the other hand it seems important that Haiti is in the news, that it’s on the map again and that people are talking about Haiti, a marvellous country in need of help,” she says.

The 67-year-old author originally considered setting the novel in New Orleans, but her research took her to Haiti.

“I noticed that the French flavour of New Orleans, the cooking, the voodoo, a lot of the customs come from 10,000 refugees who fled Haiti during the slave revolution at the end of the 1700s and the beginning of the 1800s . . . and many of them came to Louisiana,” she says during a recent interview.

“So I began investigating the circumstances that forced them to leave and that’s how I got into the Haitian Revolution, which is fascinating.”

The book, which debuted in Spanish last year and just came out in English in the United States, follows Zarite Sedella, a slave in Saint-Domingue (Haiti) at the end of the 18th century who had the good fortune to avoid working on sugar plantations or in the mills, because she was always a domestic slave.

Although “Island Beneath the Sea” takes place 200 years ago, Allende says, the “the theme of slavery is one that is horribly alive today.”

“There are 27 million slaves in the world today . . . and we’re not just talking about girls who work in Cambodian bordellos, but people who are in indentured servitude, sometimes for generations; entire villages that work in agriculture, in the fishing industry, logging and all sorts of sweatshops,” she says.

“When there’s so much poverty, when there’s so much abuse, I think it’s important to say it as much as possible—to make awareness about this,” Allende says. She added that 300,000 children in Haiti are domestic slaves who are given away by their parents who are too poor to take care of them.

Allende is one of the best-known contemporary women authors in Latin America, who sometimes writes based on her own experiences, weaving together myth and realism. Her books, which have been translated into more than 27 languages, shift between autobiographical and historical and are usually focused on women.

A Bob Woodward book on the Obama administration is coming out in September.

It doesn’t even have a title yet, but that hasn’t prevented Bob Woodward’s latest book from making headlines. Woodward, best known as half of the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalistic duo that busted Watergate wide open, will be writing on the Obama administration. The book is expected to be released this September.

Simon & Schuster spokeswoman Victoria Meyer confirmed the Woodward release, currently listed on Amazon.com, but declined further comment on Wednesday. The book does not yet have a title or announced print run.

Little is known about the book so far, but Woodward did tell Politico earlier this year that the project, which will be published by Simon & Schuster, was going “very well.” A White House official confirmed at that time that Woodward was getting access to senior officials in the Obama administration and would most likely have a chance to interview the president.

Woodward also wrote four bestselling books on the George W. Bush administration based on interviews with Bush and other top officials. In reviewing Woodward’s third Bush book, “State of Denial,” Monitor staffer Peter Grier wrote that “There’s a reason why Bob Woodward remains a brand name of news more than 30 years after Watergate. The man’s a reporting machine. His reputation is such that he can talk to almost anyone he wants to–so he does.”

The result, writes, Grier “is that he’s got great stuff to illustrate his points.”

Woodward has been criticized, however, for using anonymous sources to provide fly-on-the-wall accounts of meetings and events. Woodward has defended this style of reporting and told Politico that his Obama book will use the same methods.

Prior to viewing this film I had built a preconceived notion of what this thriller was going to be like because I was fooled yet again by good marketing when watching the trailer. This is probably not the movie for your average film-goer who wants an easy plot line to follow and little thought required. This movie does challenge the viewer psychologically and definitely holds your attention all the way through. For someone who was never much of a Leonardo fan, his performance is brilliant, so much range to his character. In fact all of the acting in this film is excellent. The directing is probably the best quality to this film. I always enjoy watching a film that is as unpredictable as this film and where the director has turned the plot line on to his viewer.”
