Panasonic Australia introduces Viera Skype camera
Panasonic Australia has announced the availability of a Skype enabled camera. These new Viera Skype cameras will give us the ability to make two-way video and voice calls from our living room
Priced at $AU199, the camera will only connect to Viera D25, S25, Viera VT20 and V20 Series Neo Plasma Series TVs. It connects via the USB 2.0 socket and can capture video and audio up to 5m away. Your existing Skype account can be used with the camera, including your contact lists, and other Skype features.
Glenn Zanoni, Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic Australia said “With Skype now available to access via VIErA TV’s, the future of communication has well and truly arrived. Gone are the days where we have to get close to a computer screen to video call someone on the other side of the world. Skype access on VIErA allows users to easily make video calls to other Skype users, from the comfort of their living rooms on their big screen VIErA TV “.
With the recent addition of new phones like the iPhone 4, that come with WiFi video calling features, and the computer which is already a standard for Skype video calls; it wont be long before we have a contact point to the world from any point in our busy lives.
The introduction of a camera that plugs into your home TV, to enable video calls to family and friends is going to be a must have device in the next few years. It will make that family call to grandma a much better experience, at least for grandma anyway
Online retail store will be posted soon, however you can read more about the new camera at the Panasonic web site: www.panasonic.com.au
