Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your email regarding the Phishing / Scam / Hoax email sent to you.

You can communicate with the lottery and 419 Scams at forensics419@absa.co.za

Kindly note, the email you have received has been identified on our systems as a Phishing Fraud scam.

PHISHING is a technique used to gain personal information for purposes of identity theft (almost like fishing), using fraudulent email messages that appear to come from a legitimate business. These authentic-looking messages are designed to fool recipients into divulging personal data such as account numbers and passwords or credit card numbers.

These types of emails are sent to random recipients with the aim of extracting electronic banking logon details from unsuspecting victims, resulting in financial damage to the client If you would like to report a Phishing Scam please report it to:secmon@absa.co.za .If you get an email or pop-up message that asks for your personal or financial information, do not click on the link in the message rather report it to the above email addresses.

Absa in fact any other financial institution will never ask you to divulge you’re banking credentials via email. In case you have provided your personal information please immediately report it.

Spam should be deleted and users are advised not to unsubscribe to the sender. Please report any lottery and 419 Scams to forensics419@absa.co.za

It is important that you do not reply to this type of emails as your personal details will become compromised. Absa, in conjunction with the South African Police Service, is currently attempting to have these types of emails restricted and the website they lead to deleted. Your patience in this matter is much appreciated.

Please contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance in stopping the spam emails.

If you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact me via email at sup4@absa.co.za or the helpdesk on 08600 08600 (International number +27 11 276 7900).

Regards
