Arizona Bus crash kills 6

At least six people have been killed and several others seriously injured in a bus crash near Phoenix, Arizona.

The blue-and-white bus settled in a ditch beside the road, aerial footage showed.

The roof of the bus was crushed and multiple people were seriously injured in the accident about 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Emergency crews have apparently removed everyone from the bus after breaking windows to reach the victims, according to US media.

US media said the crash also involved two trucks and several cars.

The crash blocked both westbound lanes of traffic, according to the Public Safety Department, which had no estimate for when the lanes would reopen.

The bus driver lost control and veered to the left, then to the right and off the road, rolling over at least once while several people were ejected from the bus, another Public Safety spokesman, Robert Bailey, told

Westbound lanes of Interstate 10 have been closed.

Witnesses said the badly damaged bus was by the side of the road, surrounded by debris.

Bart Graves, of the Arizona department of public safety, said the bus had been travelling from Los Angeles when it was in collision with a car and rolled over.

He said two men and four women were killed and 15 other people injured, including two children. Five of those injured were airlifted to hospital.

The bus, owned by Tierra Santa Inc, was carrying 21 passengers, Mr Graves added.
